A LITTLE PASTEL FUN

"Colorful Me"
Prismacolor NuPastels on 6" x 10" Hahnemuhle Velour Paper

Time for a little color fun with hard pastels on velour papers.  I am currently teaching a color unit and pastel unit in my high school classroom so I decided to whip out a quick demonstration using both.  I love a big box of vivid pastels - it's like getting the giant box of crayons.  It's also a treat to work on a variety of papers.  I'd forgotten how rich pastels look and how well a velour surface grabs the medium.

  2. I found that google doesnt allow proper editing. What i meant to say was this: Pastel drawing (painting) is my first love in art. I have found that it excells in vibrancy. Your work here is wonderful. Kudos for the self portrait. I have done many, but failed to publish them here. In the process of doing a self portrait, one is forced to delve deeper into that realm of true vistion: That place where those of us who aspire to be artists are forced to look more sharply, interpret more truely, and render more accurately that which we see.
